Personal tax

Track every personal tax return through the season: who has it, where it sits, and how this year compares with the last.

About this app

Personal tax is the season board for a practice's personal returns.

One row per client per tax year. Record the practice code, rating, partner, portfolio, preparer, and reviewer. Dates and flags overlap: information in, entered preparation, on hold, pending review, sent to the client, fee request sent, a prior-year amendment, and no filing required.

Each portfolio has a private note that stays off the shared lists. Quarterly filings sit on the same client. The season page shows what is not started, how long work has waited, what went out each week, and this year against the last two.

It does not prepare the return or file it. Import the spreadsheet you already keep, then work the list together.

Main use cases

See the whole season The friction: A shared spreadsheet hides who is waiting and how this year compares. How the app helps: Open the season page for the queue, the weeks sent, and the last two years.

Keep each portfolio The friction: Private notes and fee dates get lost when everything is stacked into one list. How the app helps: My list and a portfolio keep the private note. Shared lists do not.

Start from the file you have The friction: Re-keying a thousand clients is not how a season starts. How the app helps: Import the workbook. Each tab becomes a portfolio, including earlier sent dates.

How it works

1. Add the year Name the tax year and set when the season starts and when returns should be out.

2. Import or add clients Upload the spreadsheet, or add a client and fill the dates as the return moves.

3. Work the lists Use preparation, missing information, last sent, and the chase list through the season.
